Cape Kyogasaki / Cape Kyogasaki

A white lighthouse built on a cliff 148 meters above sea level at the northernmost tip of the Tango Peninsula. A nationally designated important cultural property.

It was installed in 1898, and is a first-class lighthouse that uses a rare first-class lens (Fresnel lens), which is only found in five places in Japan. In 2008, it was designated as a modern industrial heritage by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and in 2018, it was also selected as a "lighthouse in love." Kyogamisaki is a sea cliff with well-developed columnar joints made of andesite, and is a spot in the San'in Kaigan Geopark.

The contrast between the shining white lighthouse and the azure sea is vivid, and many photographers set up their lenses to capture the sheer cliffs towering over the Sea of Japan and the peregrine falcons nesting there.
